Racing: Matamata pair look strong Feilding prospects

Baileys On Ice and Millzeel drew attention to their weekend prospects at Feilding with an impressive workout at Matamata yesterday.

On an easy course proper, 25m out, Milzeel covered 1200m in 1:23.6 and was joined by Baileys On Ice for the last 1000 in 1:7.2 and 600 in 39.8. Both were
travelling strongly at the finish.

Bahira galloped 1200m comfortably in 1:26.6, the 600 in 41.8. Over the same ground Country Class took 1:27.8 and 42.4.

On a firm sand, Wild Oscar impressed over 1000m in 1:2.5, the 600 in 36. Grenache and Ihi Frenzy also pleased with 1200 in 1:16.5, the 600 in 37.2.

Lady Bear and The Matriarch took 1:23.2 for 1200m, quickening from the 600 in 36.4. Thatsacurlyone left 1200 behind in 1:17.5, the 600 in 37.4.

Zazu and Patiti Rose took 1:21.2 for 1200m, the fastest section the last 600 in 37.8. Kiwi Rod and Cold Feet covered 1000 in 1:5.4, the 600 in 37.8.

Danroad and Marswin galloped best at Cambridge, matching strides over 1000m on a soft course proper in 1:5, the 600 in 38.

On a soft No 2 grass, 15m out, On Spec looked in good nick when covering 1000m in 1:6, the 600 in 40.5. Miss Impeccable cut out 800 in 53, the 600 in a smart 39.5.

Prince Of Opera and Cajun Belle showed dash over 800m in 51.5. Winsome looked none the worse for recent racing when galloping 1000 in 1:8, the 600 strongly in 39.1.

A smart gallop by Memphis Minnie was the highlight of training at Takanini. On a soft No 1 grass, 8m out, she cut out 1000m in 1:4, the 600 in 38.2.

Nobodywantsme and Lord Illusion galloped 1200m in 1:19.9, the 600 in 40.3. Showgirl and Grove Nymph made similar 1200m time - 1:20 and 40.2.

Twinkleovani did well to run 1200m in 1:20.2, the 600 in 40. Gwen's Rules and Zafonique finished 1000 in 1:5.1, the 600 in 39.5.

Ego Fast worked solidly at Pukekohe in preparation for Avondale or Feilding on Saturday. He went 1000m on an easy No 1 grass in 1:7, the 600 in 40.4.

Another likely Avondale contender, Rock 'N Row, recorded 1:6 for 1000m and 39.8 from the 600. Sir Valiant did a steady 1000 in 1:7, the 600 in 40.6.

At Avondale, White Eagle and Lenny Lights looked good when ending two laps on a fast No 1 grass with a sharp 600m dash in 35.5.

Genki did similar work, quickening from the 1000 in 1:5, the 600 in 36.6. Home Town Hero took 1:5.4 for 1000, the 600 in 36.8.

On the outside of a firm course proper, River Chant and Siana Ice galloped 1000m, firmly held, in 1:7.4, the 600 in 38.1. Ashley Downs ended a solid round on the sand with a Kashani gelding with 600 in 41.5.

Briny Maid and Ruff Diamond took time honours at Te Awamutu with 1000m on a soft No 1 grass, 20m out, in 1:3.7, the 600 in 39.1. Magic Rose was only fractionally slower on a good sand, taking 1:3.8, the 600 in 38.5. Also on the sand, Magic Winner covered 2000m, the last 1000 in 1:4.9 and 600 in 38.6. Herbie did similar work in 1:5.4 and 39.5. Dawn Rhapsody sprinted 600 in 38.3.

Irish Edition, a local hope for the Te Aroha races today, showed dash yesterday with a 600m sharpener on an easy No 2 grass in 36.3.

O'Right, who races next at Paeroa, dashed 1000m in 1:2, the 600 in 35.9. In preparation for Ellerslie next Tuesday, Urge cut out 1000 in 1:1, the 600 in 36.

Arlanda and Noble Prospect worked well together over 1200m on an easy course proper at Te Rapa in 1:18.1, the 600 in 39 with Arlanda slightly ahead.

Giacobazzzi hit out well over 1000m in 1:6.7, the 600 in 40.3. The Alaskan took 1:25.4 for 1200, speeding up from the 600 in 38.9.
