Greg Eurell has been forced to change plans with stable star Apache Cat who is recovering from a stone bruise and won't trial at Cranbourne today.
The trainer is now looking to start the flashy chestnut first-up in the Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 25.
The eight-timegroup one winner was previously scheduled to resume in the Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 29.
The 7-year-old landed his 18th victory from from 38 starts in the Doomben 10,000 on May 23, when he lasted by a head from the fast-finishing Black Piranha.
Apache Cat developed the stone bruise since galloping with stablemate Mic Mac over 1000m between races at Cranbourne a week ago.
Both Mic Mac and new stablemate, 2008 Cranbourne Cup winner Majestical, will contest the same 800m trial at Cranbourne today.
And they will both resume in Saturday's Listed Aurie's Star Handicap down the straight 1200m course at Flemington. Damien Oliver is booked to ride Mic Mac in the Aurie's Star, while Chris Symons will be on Majestical who is regarded by Eurell as a Caulfield Cup prospect.
"He's ticking over nicely," Eurell said. "He's a nice horse. He had a little campaign with us last autumn without running.
"He's a solid sort of horse and he looks absolutely magnificent."
The Montjeu 6-year-old gelding hasn't raced since running twice at group one level in Perth last November-December. The Colin Little-trained 2007 Cox Plate winner El Segundo is also down to trial over 990 metres today against his stablemate, this year's Sydney Cup winner Ista Kareem.
Australian Steeple winner Mazzacano is scheduled to contest a 1550m trial at Cranbourne.
Mazzacano is trained by Robbie Laing who rates him so highly he is planning a trip to the Grand National Steeplechase at England's famous Aintree course next year.
