Racing: Indian Chant works nicely in the soft

Smart winter sprinter Indian Chant found the soft conditions to his liking when galloping at Cambridge yesterday morning.

Preparing for the Jones Animal Food Handicap at Te Rapa on Saturday, Indian Chant ran 1000m in 1.5.5, the last 600 strongly in 41.5.

Dupre, another Te Rapa runner, hit out freely over 800m in 51.5, the 600 in 39.6. He was untroubled by the conditions.

Grindley was timed at 39.6 for the last 600m of 1000 and Super Bowl was comfortable going 40.

Uphellyaa and Our Enjoyment were paired over 800m in 53.5 and Dynamic Jane ran the last 600 of her work in 39.

Billy Quin, who has a solid trials background, and stablemate Stop The Fight completed 800m nicely in 53.

Jaiapeno was in good form for Te Rapa when galloping at Matamata.

On a heavy course proper, 26m out, Jaiapeno shaded Our Pretext after 1000m in 1.8.2, the last 600 in 40. Kohinoor led Our Trio to the finish of 1200m in 1.25.2, the 1000 in 1.10.2 and 600 in 41.6.

Fella Me Lad and High Ratio completed a solid 1200m in 1.22.5, the 600 in 40.2 and Mastercard strode freely over a round, the 1200m in 1.21.8 and 600 in 40.8.

Salihma impressed covering 1200m with Kazoo in 1.24.8, the 60 in 41. Sheena and La Fayette took 1.23.2 for 1200m, the 600 in 40.8.

Lady Tee put dash into running 1200m in 1.23.4, the last 600 in 40.4.

On the much faster all weather track, Bistro Star dashed over 1200m in 1.16/5 and 600 in 36.6. Classic Fortune strode evenly over 1200m in 1.16.5, the 600 in 36.6.

Starvic and Special Call ran 1000m in 1.5.2. Vee For Victory and Aimeegee took 1.4.6 for 1000m and 39.6 for the 600.

Status Quo and Cheeko looked in good shape at Counties completing 800m in 51.9, on the No 1 grass, the 600 in 39.2.

Country Fair showed he was nearing racing form with a sound Te Rapa workout.

On a heavy No 2 grass, Country Fair strode over 1200m in 1.16.3, the final 600 in 40.7.

Von Nida, who raced at Rotorua, ran 1000m in 1.7.8, the 600 in 39.2.

At Avondale , Spice Girl was in sizzling form for Te Rapa, running 800m in 48.8, the 600 in 35.2.

At Takanini, Waikato Hurdles candidate Little Bro galloping pleasingly, 4m out on a heavy No 2 grass.

Working towards the end of a busy session, Little Bro ran the last 1200m of 2000m in 1.20.8, the 600 in 39.4.

Zaitan sprinted 1000m in 1.4.7, the last 600 in 37 and Mr McGerkle looked good running 1000m in 1.5, the 600 in 37.7.

Lately galloped 1000m in 1.16.8.

On the outside of an away No 1 grass at Te Awamutu, Kickit and Mr Brook were untroubled to run 1000m in 1.5, the 600 in 39.2.
