Racing: Chairman looks fit for Te Rapa

Te Rapa candidate The Chairman looked fit when striding out comfortably in training at Matamata yesterday.

On a firm all-weather track, The Chairman had plenty in reserve after 1200m in 1:22.6, the 1000 in 1:8 and 600 in 39.

Share My Victory strode 1000m freely in 1:9.8, the 600 in 39.8. Down
South Rose wound up for Te Rapa with 1200 in 1:22.5, the 600 in 38.2.

Petrock looked an improver when galloping 1200m in 1:26.4, the 600 in 39.8. Isle Floorem was well held over 1200 in 1:28.5, the 600 in 42.8.

Regal Aare looked keen to go quicker than 1:25 for 1200m, the 600 in 41.5. Mr Speaker did similar work in 1:28.2 and 42.5.

Itti Bit covered 1200m in 1:25, the 600 in 40.8. Whistling Gypsy cut out 1000 in 1:12, the 600 in 41.

Jaiapeno did only pacework and will benefit by a 4.5kg allowance with Stephen Lockie his rider tomorrow. Australian-bound O'Malleys Boy went 1200m on a soft course proper in 1:24.6, the 600 in 39.8. Imax did similar in 1:28.2 and 40.8.

Hill Of Grace worked best at Te Awamutu, taking 1:2.8 for 1000m on an easy No 1 grass, the 600 in an outstanding 36. Stablemate Alashaan also showed speed over 1000 in 1:2.5, the 600 in 38.

Citiman was not extended to run 1000m in 1:5.1, the 600 in 38.9. Party Princess took 1:7.4 for 1000 and 40.6 from the 600.

Willie Tee worked twice round, the last 1000m in 1:11.4 and 600 in 42.4. Sir Avion did similar work in almost exactly the same times.

Te Rapa candidate True Colours galloped strongly at Cambridge to cover 800m on the outside of a soft No 2 grass in 51, the 600 in 40.

Dreamcast worked steadily on the sand before taking 41 for a 600m sprint.

Romanee St. Vivant impressed over 1000m in 1:7.4, the 600 in 40.3. Classic Dame handled the conditions well when sprinting 800 in 55.5, the 600 in 40.5.

Cox's Bazaar started slowly from the 1000m and quickened for his last 600 in 42.8. The Flynt could not be timed because of poor light but was working strongly at the end of 800.

Deputy Girl returned 58 for a comfortable 800m, the 600 in 43.6. Regal Krona wound up slowly from the 1000 to run his last 800 in 56.5, the 600 in 41.4.

At Takanini, Goldory finished his work for Te Rapa in style, taking 1:5 for 1000m on a soft No 1 grass, 4m out, the final 600 strongly in 37.7.

Cyclades was keen to go further after an easy 1600m, the last 1000 in 1:8.1 and 600 in 39.5. Kat Ballou galloped 1200 in 1:19.6, the 600 in 39.1.

Voltice was under a good hold finishing 1000m in 1:5.3, the 600 in 40.2.

Noble Prospect took time honours on a soft No 2 grass at Te Rapa with 1:1.9 for 1000m, the 600 in 36.6.

Von Nida ran on well after 1400m in 1:28.6, the 600 in 36.7. Lotus Lenny went 1200 in 1:21.2, the 600 in 38.9.

Fair Gift worked encouragingly for Te Rapa 20m out on a heavy course proper at Te Aroha, taking 1:21 for 1200m and 38.1 from the 600.

Ballyreel coped well with the conditions when galloping 1200m in 1:21.5, the 600 in 40. Paden sprinted 800 boldly in 51.5, the 600 in 37.6.

Cate cruised the last 800m of her work in 54.5, the 600 in 40.1. Kosovo did an easy 1000 in 1:11, quickening from the 600 in 38.7.

Shivarno, who races on his home track next Wednesday, hit out stylishly over 1200m on a soft course proper at Avondale in 1:15.9, the 600 in 37.7. Georgina, preparing for the same meeting, ran 1000 on the No 1 grass in 1:7.4, the 600 in 38.1.

Genki and Merchant Banker did well to return 1:3.9 for 1000m, the 600 in 36.7. True Son went 1000 on the course in 1:7, the 600 in 39.4.

At Pukekohe, Roman Arch continued his Te Rapa preparation with 800m on a heavy grass in 53.3, the 600 in 40.2. Where Am I did similar work, rounding off with 600 in 40.2.
