SILVERSTONE - Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo extended his lead in the MotoGP championship with an easy win in the British GP at Silverstone on Sunday as Australian Casey Stoner again missed the podium.
The Spaniard started on pole and was never headed, beating Italian Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso by seven seconds with American Ben Spies third on another Yamaha.
It was the first podium finish in the elite class for Spies who overtook experienced countryman Nicky Hayden on the final lap.
Hayden finished fourth just ahead of Ducati teammate Stoner.
Dovizioso jumped to second in the standings, leaping over Pedrosa and injured Yamaha star Valentino Rossi.
Lorenzo has won three of the five races this year and has 115 points to the Italian's 78.
Pedrosa is fourth on 73 followed by Rossi on 61 and Hayden 52 while Stoner remains in seventh place on 35 points.
