The Silver Ferns are slowly coming together for next month's Australian series.
The Ferns beat the Auckland men's team on Monday night in a practice match, where they were working on ways of countering the close and physical nature of Australian play.
New captain Lesley Nicol says they wanted the men to
simulate the tough Australian style of play, which they did well.
Nicol says the players are working well together because there are quite a few links from the national championship sides, but it is also a matter of past international combinations fitting back together.
The five-period practice match was designed to give all of the squad as much court time as possible.
Nicol says all twelve players had game time so they could develop a range of combinations and tactical options for playing against Australia.
