Australian netball captain Liz Ellis said there was still work to be done after the 64-41 win over South Africa today in the first of three tests.
The match, in Port Elizabeth, was Australia's first of the year, opening the tour of South Africa and England.
The Australians failed to fire early,
taking only a four-point lead into the first quarter break, but found their feet to lead 29-11 at halftime.
In the second spell the hosts were unable to match the determined tourists.
