Motorsport: Newly-crowned V8 champ switches codes

Angus Fogg - who yesterday secured the BNT V8 series title - will quit the series to join the new V8 SuperTourers class.

Fogg will be back in a Holden for the series, taking the nineteenth spot left vacant by Bill Farmer, who bought the Kayne Scott car and franchise.

"I am absolutely stoked that it's finally all come together," said the North Shore driver. "We have made a decision and it will be a Holden."

"The V8ST concept of identical chassis and drive trains is brilliant, because it really does come down to the driver getting the best out of the exact same package as everybody else on the grid has. That's a concept I am extremely comfortable with."

Fogg is yet to announce exactly which meeting he will make his SuperTourer debut at, but does intend on competing in the endurance rounds.

"We are hoping to have the car finished and up and running for June, which will mean that we can use the winter break to put some mileage on the car, and gain experience along with my co driver for the three endurance rounds.

"Even though the cars are simple in concept it's the familiarity with the car that will count in the long run.

"I drove the prototype car at Round 1 of the V8 SuperTourers series, and was just amazed how responsive it is compared to my distant memories of an Aussie Supercar.

"It's basically the same philosophy as Porsche GT3 racing, in as much you cannot change any component of the car, so all you're left with is the ability to be able to fiddle with elements of set up like the rear roll centre, ride height, dampers and anti roll bars."
