New Zealander Scott Dixon will contest the prestigious Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona Beach Florida next month to jump-start his year of motor racing in the United States.
Dixon's Target Chip Ganassi Racing team has entered the event from February 3-6 with a Lexus Riley car which will be driven
by Dixon, fellow-IndyCar series driver Darren Manning and NASCAR driver Casey Mears.
Dixon, the 2003 IndyCar series champion, will take limited sports car driving experience into the race.
It will be his third Rolex series race. He recored a third place finish in the Grand Am Series finale in Fontana in October with co-driver Manning.
"Last year's Daytona 24 hour race was quite an experience and I think it'll be great to have all three Target drivers together," Dixon said in a statement.
"Both Darren and I have a little more experience now after the podium in the Rolex season finale last year at Fontana and I know Casey's going to pick it up really quickly.
"This is going to be a really fun event but it's also going to be ultra competitive out there."
