Josh Coppins has got off to a flying start in his bid to win the British MX1 title for the third straight time.
Racing in Lyng, Norfolk, on the weekend, Coppins, the world number two, finished second in the first heat and won the second to take the overall win
in the first round raced on the Cadders Hill circuit.
Second overall was British CAS Honda teammate Ken DeDycker.
DeDycker finished equal on points but was pushed down the overall standings because Coppins won the decisive second race.
Coppins, who appears to have recovered from a back injury he suffered three weeks ago in training, will next race at the opening round of the world MX1 championship at Zolder, Flanders on April 2.
