Pitstop: Going for a spin with a legend

Australian Nascar driver Marcos Ambrose is to host superstar Dale Earnhardt jnr at the V8 super school on the Gold Coast. Ambrose will show Earnhardt the workings of one of the school's 450-horsepower V8 race cars before both drivers go for a spin around the 2.1km circuit, Ambrose in a Ford and Earnhardt in a Holden.

Situation vacant

Expat Kiwis and Supercar V8 team owners Ross and Jimmy Stone have a vacant second seat at SBR now that Paul Drumbrell has gone to HSV. One of the favourites to take the place is young Kiwi Shane Van Gisbergen who has impressed in his rookie season in V8s.

Knight takes big step

Toyota Racing Series leader New Zealander Andy Knight could be set to drive in the Australian Carrera Cup championship next year. He will drive in fellow Kiwi Craig Baird's VIP Petfoods team. Baird said the drive would be a step in the right direction for the 21-year-old Knight. The series starts in February at the Clipsal 500.

Coulthard chance

New Zealander Fabian Coulthard has been announced as racing veteran John Bowe's successor to pilot the Glenfords Racing Falcon in the 2008 and 2009 V8 Supercar championship series. Coulthard won his first Australian crown in the 2005 Carrera Cup series.
