Former Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding was sentenced to 10 days in jail in Washington state yesterday for drinking alcohol while on probation.
In court, Harding said her arrest for drink-driving had forced her to re-examine her life and was the best thing that could have happened.
Harding was driving her truck in April when it crashed into a ditch.
She had less than a month to go on her two-year probation for hitting a boyfriend with a hubcap. As part of her probation, she was not allowed to drink alcohol.
The two-time US figure skating champion was convicted in 1994 of hindering prosecution in a plot to injure rival Nancy Kerrigan during the American championships in Detroit.
She was also banned for life by the US Figure Skating Association.
