The Australians are hunting Easter Cup winner Homin Hosed.
New South Wales Harness Racing Club officials have not given up on getting the exciting 4-year-old to Sydney for next week's Chariots Of Fire.
Trainer Brian Macey has shown little interest in the Sydney, preferring to stay closer to home to
contest the Taylor Mile and Messenger Pace at Alexandra Park later this month.
But that won't stop NSWHRC boss Peter V'Landys.
"We are very interested in Homin Hosed and we'd love to have him here for the race," V'Landys said.
"We will be ringing Brian to try and convince him to come."
The Sydney club is already assured of a hot field for the Chariots Of Fire.
Holmes D G will be joined by multiple group one winner Tailamade Lombo and last season's Queensland Derby winner Kingstar, who has been starring at Harold Park this year.
Those three clash in the Four and Five-Year-Old Championship at Harold Park tomorrow night, a race which will not be shown on Trackside because it starts right on the channel's shutdown time of 11pm.
While Holmes D G will be favourite he has to overcome drawing the outside of the second line, with Tailamade Lombo not much better off, drawing one on the second line.
"They are great horses and having them here for the Chariots next week is brilliant but it would be nice to introduce a top horse we have not seen here before - like Homin Hosed," said V'Landys.
While V'Landys faces a battle trying to convince Macey to take Homin Hosed to Sydney, many other New Zealand trainers are falling over themselves to get there.
Steven Reid and Tremain Thorby will start Interdominion Finalist Ritchi at Harold Park tomorrow night, while southerners Adio Routine and Happy Asset and also heading to Sydney.
And Interdominion Grand Final placegetter Bogan Fella is being set for the Ben Hur, which has been changed to a 2900 discretionary handicap, on April 30.
Courage Under Fire will join the assault for the New South Wales Derby on May 14.
"Really we couldn't be happier with the class of horses we have coming over from New Zealand, it will make the carnival," said V'Landys.
