It sounds like something from a space odyssey. But it is simply New Zealand Soccer Flight 101.
Determined to have the national league go on with minimal disruption, the association has taken to the air.
Tomorrow, at 7.45 am, the Central United players will fly to Palmerston North for their
2 pm game with Manawatu.
The aircraft will then go on to Wellington, collect the Miramar team and fly them to Auckland to play Waitakere City.
After cooling their heels at Auckland Airport, the crew will fly Miramar back to Wellington, drop into Palmerston North to pick up the Central squad and return to Auckland.
Today, before Flight 101 flies hither and yon, a bus will make the trek from Napier to Auckland - for the second week in a row - to bring the Hawkes Bay hopefuls to Bill McKinlay Park for their 1 pm clash with University Mt Wellington.
After all the travelling, there will be some football.
Uni/Mount have Simon Eaddy, Jeff Campbell and Leigh Kenyon back from the Football Kingz for the match of the round.
On a high after their win over Waitakere last Sunday, Napier City Rovers are looking for more success.
Waitakere, smarting from three successive losses, will need a big effort from Thomas Edge, in his 200th game for the club, to have any chance of turning it around.
Still without Darren Fellowes, serving a two-week suspension, City should welcome back captain and defensive kingpin Ryan Dawkins and hope Nik Viljoen is fit.
In a bottom-of-the-table clash, Tauranga City are at home to Metro, and in the South Island, Christchurch City meet Dunedin Technical in Christchurch.
