Basketball: Saints need miracle

The cash-strapped Wellington Saints basketball franchise has warned it is on the brink of collapse if a major sponsor cannot be found before March 1.

Saints have been unsuccessful in luring a naming rights sponsor, and chief executive Nick Mills said the situation had reached crisis point.

The national league team finished second last year, but would be likely to fold if the SOS for a bailout goes unanswered, he said.
