Eric Fernandez, a stalwart of athletics in Auckland, has died, aged 77.
Fernandez has been an official and manager of athletic meetings at the former Mt Smart Stadium and now Ericsson Stadium for over 50 years. He was in charge of field equipment and ground officer at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games.
Fernandez was a life member of Athletics Auckland and in 1991 was awarded a QSM for services to athletics.
