The word "bugger" may be acceptable in TV advertisements but a Christchurch judge yesterday made it clear he won't tolerate it in his court.
Judge Stephen Erber ordered out a woman whose black T-shirt had the word written in large white letters across the front. He told her not to return until she had changed.
It was not the first time the judge had taken exception to the shirt.
When a similarly attired defendant appeared before him last year, only days after the Broadcasting Standards Authority deemed the word acceptable, Judge Erber told the man: "Don't wear that T-shirt in court again."
