Youth minimum wage increased

There has been some good news today for the country's young workers.

Cabinet has approved an increase in the youth minimum wage.

It has been raised from 60 per cent of the adult minimum wage to 80 per cent.

Youth Affairs Minister Laila Harre also said the age of eligibility for the adult minimum wage had been lowered from 20 to 18.

She said the changes would affect more than 20,000 young workers.
