Winter darkness sets in at Scott Base

New Zealanders at Scott Base in Antarctica last night said farewell to the sun until August.

Antarctica experiences daylight for 24 hours a day during the summer and complete darkness during the winter. The winter will last for about four months, with the sun not rising again until August 20.
