Wellington man drowns in Marlborough Sounds

A 49-year-old Wellington man fell from a boat and drowned in the Marlborough Sounds at the weekend.

Coastguard Marlborough incident controller Peter Garnett told the Marlborough Express the man fell off the boat in Dryden Bay in Queen Charlotte Sound on Saturday evening and his body was retrieved by two companions before Coastguard and police arrived.

Constable Michelle Stagg, of Blenheim police, said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
