Waikato University staff have agreed to a 3.2 per cent pay increase, ending industrial action taken last month over the stalled pay talks.
The university said in a statement today its academic and general staff had ratified the settlement giving them a 3.2 per cent pay increase, backdated to October 1last year.
The agreement runs until September.
The unions involved had been seeking an 8 per cent pay rise, while the university had originally offered 1.8 per cent and a lump sum.
About 60 per cent of the university's total staff were union members.
As part of the settlement, a joint university/union working group is to be established to look at mechanisms for budgeting for salary increases in the future.
