Vodafone to donate $1m to charity

A charity is set to get $1 million from Vodafone, which says it will let the winner of a national competition among Vodafone customers decide which organisation should receive the money. The competition winner will take home $50,000.

The telephone company says the money is to celebrate its one millionth customer in New Zealand.

The Red Cross and the Auckland City Mission both say they would be delighted to take the cash.
