Mr Cameron said today the car had been found with help from the public.
He also said the victim's 23-year-old girlfriend was re-interviewed today. She was also assaulted and received a blow to her jaw that did not need hospital treatment.
The pair had been lured to an intersection before the attack.
Mr Cameron said police were still interested in information about the movements of the Mitsubishi and a yellow Toyota Altezza after 2.15am on Saturday.
Rachel Maree Faul, a 20-year-old receptionist, appeared in court on Monday charged with aggravated wounding, kidnapping and reckless driving.
She did not enter a plea and will reappear tomorrow.
