Arriving to find a pond foaming with detergent bubbles and dead and floating goldfish in his pond at the entrance to his interior decorating store in Greytown did not impress owner Michael Nalder.
He was so incensed by the contamination of the water and killing of the fish that he is offering a reward of $200 to anyone who knows who the culprits are.
Before the Easter Monday crowds began flocking to Greytown, he managed to fish out around 10 goldfish, including many babies.
But the soapy, oily water will stay until he finds out who was responsible.
"I'd like them to come and take out the rocks, scrub them and the pond, and then replace the water", Mr Nalder said.
The pond is one of two large areas of water that front the store, complete with fountains, and for the past six months have attracted much favourable comment.
Apart from offering the reward Mr Nalder has also informed police of what had happened.
