Two suspicious fires at Auckland's Kelston Boys High School

Two small fires at an Auckland secondary school early today are being treated as arson, police said.

Police were alerted to the fires at Kelston Boys High School about 1.15am.

Inspector Alan Wright, from the police Northern Communications Centre, said the incident was being treated as suspicious.

A Fire Service spokesman said one fire was started by a plastic tarpaulin at a hall construction site, causing no major structural damage, but ruining curtains and fittings.

The second fire was started by a device thrown through a window into a classroom, which was not seriously damaged.
