The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was assisted by the New Zealand Airforce in locating a man who went missing in the mouth of a Manawatu river.
The man had been swimming with two others in the Rangitikei River when they began to struggle in the current.
Separated from the group, the others swum to shore to get help.
Assisted by the Airforce - who had a A109 helicopter in the area - the man was located shortly thereafter approximately 1.6km north of where he was last see. He was uninjured.

Police were called to the incident around 4.20pm.
A police spokeswoman said that two Coastguard jet skis and a pontoon boat were also deployed.
