The accused was further remanded in custody without plea to appear again on Thursday, when an application for in-court filming is also expected to be heard.
Meanwhile suppression was lifted when 27-year-old Kaingaroa man George Hayward Murray Cherrington appeared, on five counts of raping a girl aged 12-16, three of raping a girl aged over 16, one of attempted sexual connection with a girl aged 12-16, one (representative) of sexual connection with a girl aged 12-16, eight of sexual grooming, one of assaulting a female, 25 of selling cannabis, 15 of offering to sell cannabis, one (representative) of supplying cannabis to a person under the age of 18 and one of offering to supply the drug to a person under 18.
Cherrington, described on charge sheets as a painter, was remanded in custody without plea to February 22 without seeking bail or continued name suppression.
An application to film in the court was opposed by counsel Ms Cull and one victim, and was declined.
