Superyacht facility opens in Whangarei

Whangarei's new superyacht facility was officially opened by Prime Minister Helen Clarke today.

Miss Clarke was reported on Radio New Zealand to have congratulated New Zealand Yachts, the company behind the venture, on completing their large construction building as well as their training school for boat builders.

"It's a great development," Miss Clarke told RNZ. "The job opportunities that come off something like this are just incredible."

The report said New Zealand Yachts, which has already begun building luxury boats, was backed by American investors but lead by New Zealander Alan Jones.
