Police have named a teenager fatally stabbed at a weekend party in Hastings.
Gavin Jaydon Arthur, 18, was stabbed at least five times in his chest during a fight outside the Fenwick St party early on Sunday.
Police are still looking for the weapon that killed him, most probably a knife, said
Detective Inspector Godfrey Watson.
"There has been a good response from members of the public who attended the party where the attack took place," Mr Watson said.
The St John Ambulance Service received a call to come to the party at 12.32am and treated Mr Arthur at the scene.
He was then taken to Hawkes Bay Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 19-year-old has been charged with an assault on Mr Arthur, and is due to appear in the Hastings District Court today.
Mr Watson said no arrest relating to Mr Arthur's death had been made.
