Are you a whanau-focused social worker who wants to put your skills to use where they're needed most? As a Social Worker in Schools, you'll be right at the hub of your community.
Te Kupenga Hauora - Ahuriri provides independent healthcare and social services to families in Napier and Hawke's Bay from a Kaupapa Maori perspective. As part of our Social Workers in Schools programme, you'll work one-on-one with children, families and schools to run early intervention and prevention programmes for children up to year 8.
You'll be part of a supportive mentoring team of social workers who run a range of community programmes, but because you'll be in charge of your own cluster of schools you'll also have plenty of autonomy.
You must be an experienced and degree-qualified social worker who can engage with children and their whanau. This role won't necessarily be confined to your schools; you'll sometimes work with families in their homes too. That means you need to understand the realities of the role and be confident to get out in the wider community. While there is a lot of independence, you'll still need to be willing to comply with processes and policies.
This is a great opportunity if you're already from Hawkes Bay to be working at the centre of your community - or if you're looking to relocate, it's a chance to make great use of your skills, play a vital role in children's lives, and enjoy the sunshine.
