Ski pass deal for Mt Ruapehu

Five thousand discounted ski passes for Mt Ruapehu went on sale yesterday to boost skifield numbers after the school holidays.

Ruapehu Alpine Lifts marketing manager Mike Smith said two adult daily lift passes could be bought online for the price of one. But they were valid only for Monday to Friday next week.

"Usually the few days after the July school holidays are some of the quietest on the mountain, so a lift pass sale to encourage people to the region ... makes sense for customers and the whole Ruapehu community."
