Black Caps coach Mike Hesson told Newstalk ZB yesterday that the team were "settling in nicely" in Melbourne. He had laughed off comments the Melbourne Cricket Ground was too big for the Black Caps.
"We play all around the world ... we've played at lots of grounds with big boundaries," he said.
Hesson said he realised New Zealand supporters were likely to be drowned out by the noise of the Australian supporters tomorrow.
"We'll definitely miss the home ground ... but we certainly know they'll be over here supporting us."
Auckland's Sky Tower will be getting amongst the cricket madness by glowing black and blue through to tomorrow night in support of the Black Caps.
Auckland Council plans to hold a public event on Tuesday night to welcome the team home.
The event is proposed to take place at 6 o'clock in the CBD. Details will be confirmed on Monday afternoon.
Yesterday, the TAB had Australia ($1.45) as the favourites to win the Cup. New Zealand were paying $2.60.
Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson were picked to be the top runscorers, followed by Australia's David Warner.
The two Black Caps were also the favourites to score centuries, followed by Australian Steve Smith, a big hitter in Thursday night's semifinal.
The top wicket takers for NZ were Trent Boult and Tim Southee.
