Robbie Williams' New Zealand tour is already a contender for local record books after three days of frantic ticket buying from fans.
Williams has sold more than 70,000 tickets to his four concerts in November since they went on sale on Wednesday. Two indoor shows in Christchurch and one at Wellington's WestpacTrust Stadium have already sold out.
Williams could well be playing to nearly 100,000 Kiwi fans if his 42,000-ticket Auckland show also sells out and moves to increase the capacity of the capital city venue are successful.
With ticket prices ranging between $88 and $138 and its take already more than $6 million, the shows may well become the highest grossing concert tour here ever.
Williams, whose albums have sold more than 250,000 copies in New Zealand, is likely to charge a flat fee for each performance, earning in the range of $500,000 and $1.5 million per show, according to industry experts.
