Roadworks chop accident injury tally

Low-cost roadworks at more than 2000 accident black spots have helped to significantly reduce the number of injury crashes, says the Land Transport Safety Authority.

The latest data from a crash reduction programme set up in 1985 showed a 29 per cent drop in injury crashes at 2408 sites across the country since the programme was established, it said, with an estimated $2.4 billion cut in social costs.
