Keinzley Agvet Wairarapa United are placing only minor emphasis on the end result in their Hilton Petone pre-season soccer tournament match with Miramar Rangers at Petone on Sunday. Player-coach Pita Rabo intends to use the game against one of the country's most powerful club sides as an opportunity to experiment withcombinations with an eye to having the house in order by the time the Capital premier division competition gets under way in early April. But at the same time Wairarapa United would only need to play as well as they did in their opening Hilton Petone match against central league side Stop Out last weekend to at least keep Miramar Rangers honest. In that Stop Out game Wairarapa United gave every bit as good as they received from both a territory and possession viewpoint and but for conceding a penalty through goalkeeper Tony Jamieson being sent from the field for committing a foul-which Stop Out converted into a goal - they would have come away with a 1-1 draw rather than a 2-1 defeat. Jamieson will be missing from the team for Sunday's match through suspension and his place in goal will be taken by Carterton's John Antcliff, one of 17 players named this week in Wairarapa United's premier division squad for 2007. With the oldest player in that squad being 29 and the youngest 17, Wairarapa United will be fielding one of the most youthful sides in their Capital competition but club stalwart Phil Keinzley considers they will be an even stronger unit than the team which finished third in the premier division series last year. Big things are expected from a couple of the newcomers, Czech Mirek Tvaroh, and Dutchman Chris Looye, and also from the three college players included in the squad, Anton Ross, Niki Keinzley and Thomas Hemi.
