Rant Why do NZ drivers think it's their right to sit in the right (fast) lane on the motorways? It's even more annoying when the speed they are doing is 10km/hto 20km/h under the limit. The police should stop this. And maybe you should be taught to merge on to the motorway. Kiwis. Can't fly and certainly can't drive!

Rave Thank you to the lovely group of people at the Takapuna Markets last Sunday morning who assisted us when my husband collapsed. Especially Norm from Auckland Transport, Sophie Wilton from the mobile coffee stand and the gentleman who so kindly waited on the roadside for the ambulance. It's wonderful to know there are people like you around. Thank you again. Your kindness is appreciated.
Rant Pavements - uneven, chipped, broken, dangerous! Takapuna has them all, right in the main shopping centre. It's five months since I tripped and fell on the Strand. I immediately brought it to Auckland Council's attention. Since then I personally know of three other people who have tripped or fallen in the same spot. Nothing has been done. So much time and money spent on roading, walkways, cycleways and in the meantime ...

Rave I take my hat off to Auckland Transport for improvement of the buses at North Harbour Stadium. Last Tuesday, for the USA game, it was carnage returning on the buses: no organisation, thousands pushing to get on. On Wednesday night, fences erected, people put into lines, worked like magic. I realise there were fewer people, but a great step in the right direction. Great value to leave by train from Onehunga at 5.06pm, bus from Britomart to stadium, arrive before 6.30, then return. Try that in a car. And all free with a $20 ticket!
Rant I'm against those with forward-facing pushchairs, decked out in sunhats and sunglasses while baby sits with bare legs exposed to the sun. In rain, baby sits hidden under a [covering]. Bring back canopies and prams where mum and baby face each other and can "communicate".

Rave A huge rave to the Fulton Hogan roadworks crew who've been laying the new Hunua pipeline along Victoria St, Onehunga. The road crew have been fantastic, helpful and courteous throughout.
