A group of students have been suspended from Rangitoto College for allegedly smoking marijuana on the school grounds.
Principal Allan Peachey said the school was investigating the incident, which happened this week, but he refused to comment further.
The case follows an incident earlier this term when a student was taken to hospital after taking the hallucinogenic drug datura, derived from a plant.
Mr Peachey said two girls had taken part in a "silly experiment" and one had been taken to hospital. Both girls were now back at school.
"I hope they have learned their lesson and can get on with their schooling and put this behind them."
