Save The head of news at Radio New Zealand has stepped down.
Don Rood said that his head of news position had been disestablished.
He has worked with the state broadcaster for 31 years and spent the past 10 years as head of news.
Rood said he opted to not apply

But he stood by the quality of news on his watch.
