A deep earthquake measuring 5.1 in magnitude rumbled the King Country tonight.
It was centred 20km north west of Taumarunui and was 240km deep, GNS Science reported.
The quake hit the area at 7.41pm and would have been felt in the eastern North Island, GNS said.
