Thirty police officers are still hunting for the man who killed bus driver Faletoi Kei in the Omana Regional Park near Maraetai two weeks ago.
South Auckland police spokeswoman Angeline Barlow said yesterday that people were still ringing the police tollfree number, 0800 OP OMANA (0800 676-6262), but police had
nothing new to report.
"The last substantial piece of information was that the blue Commodore car had been seen driving along Ormiston Rd heading towards Otara on the day. We need to track the vehicle's movements from there," she said.
Members of the public may have noticed a neighbour who had been using the vehicle but had suddenly stopped using it. Or, she said, the vehicle may have been put under cover or stored away.
Police are also keen to hear from anyone who may know the killer, described as a Maori man in his 30s, at least 1.8m (6ft), with a solid to fat build and tattoos on his left arm.
He was wearing shorts and a light coloured T-shirt, possibly blue, and had a beard.
"This person possibly needs help. He could be mentally unstable," Ms Barlow said. "We certainly want this person out of the community."
