Police concerned over hitchhiking girls

Waihi police are worried about two girls believed to be hitchhiking round the North Island.

Vanessa Pirrit, 15, was reported missing by her parents on December 29 when she failed to return home.

She is believed to be with friend Bobby-Jo Langdon, a 16-year-old who is under the care of Child, Youth and Family but lives on her own with the assistance of a benefit.

Constable Judy Campbell said the girls, who took no clothes or money with them, had been seen hitchhiking in Gisborne, Paeroa and Auckland.

Vanessa is a European of slight to medium build with dyed black hair. Bobby-Jo is slightly shorter and stockier but also has dark hair.
