Pokie machine numbers continue to grow

The number of pokie machines in pubs and clubs continues to grow, latest figures show.

In the quarter ended March 31 there were 24,569 gaming machines outside the nation's six casinos, up 239 (0.98 per cent) on the pervious period, Internal Affairs said.

The number of gambling machines at casinos, 2541, has not changed in the past three months, the department said.
