Pip up for award

Masterton-born electro-pop "It Girl" Pip Brown (aka Ladyhawke), pictured, has been nominated in the prestigious British NME Awards after a year of accolades for her 2008 eponymously titled debut album. The 28-year-old former Chanel College student has been nominated for Best Solo Artist alongside music industry heavyweights hip-hop star Jay-Z and troubled indie rocker Pete Doherty - and newcomers Laura Marling and Lightspeed Champion.
Brown has a previous association with the magazine having penned a column called "Ask Ladyhawke NME's Resident Agony Aunt Answers Your Queries". The awards ceremony is to be staged at London's Brixton Academy on February 25.
