Leading the way in the lowest handicap group

In the second group, Darryl Coley led the way with a score of five up, with Robin Britt and Greg Granich sharing the runner's up spot on 4 up.
Maurice O'Reilly headed the third group with a score of five up, which was one better than Mark Schultz, with a similar margin back to Syd Whittington in third place.
The Dinah and Deb Keats Professionals Real Estate nearest the pin on the 17th hole went to Darryl Coley. The Alister Bruce Affordable Building's one on the 10th went to Anita Karaitiana. Bruce Herangi captured the Solway Butchery one on eight. Noeline Stevenson the McAuley's Transport one on six. Rob McKelvey the Mitre 10 one on the third, and Maurice O'Reilly the Solway Pie Shop one on the first hole.
Wayne Evans and Anita Karaitiana were the only players to record holes in two.
Sunday's field was small, but the top spot was shared by Kevin Hunter and Terry Fleet on 43 points, with Peter Tennent on 41, Francis Nicholls on 40 and Gavin Towgood on 39 rounding out the prize list, with Patrick Rimene and Syd Whittington missing out on the prizes on 39 points.

Leading the way was Betty Loader, with the score of 11 up giving her a comfortable margin over runner up in the second ladies group Susan Christall, who finished on six up.
In the lower handicap group, the honours were shared by Rae McKelvey and Judith O'Connor with scores of 8 up.
Ray Loader was the best of the men with his score of nine up giving him top billing in the first men's group, with Ken Luke the runner up on six up, one ahead of Peter Campbell.
In the second group, top spot was shared on six up by Syd Whittington, Lin Jordan and Ron Hutcheson.
The ladies nearest to the pins went to Janet Campbell on the third hole and Judith O'Connor on the sixth hole, while the men's ones went to Bill Christiansen on the sixth hole and Peter Campbell on the seventh.
Ross Ireland scored the only hole in two for the day.
Next week, the veteran's group play the first of the five rounds to determine the winner of the Haddon Donald Trophy.
Last Thursday, the mid week ladies played in a Malmo Par round, and Irene Phelps lodged a strong claim for the trophy, with her round of eight up.
Next best on the day was Betty Loader with a score of one up.
This coming weekend has the ladies playing the first round of their Nancy MacCormack Foursomes on Saturday.
For the men, Saturday is the next round of the Dove Trophy and the Nichol Cup.
For those not involved in the matches, the competition will be a par round, which for the men is the third round of the Clark Rosebowl.
Sunday will see the men's Marquis Shield team in action at Carterton, where their opponents will be Featherston.
