About 250 people have been dropped from Northland Health's surgical waiting lists after a review of surgical booking systems.
The review is part of a major effort to improve waiting times and covered the specialties of ophthalmology, dental, ear nose and throat, general surgery and orthopaedics.
The removal of the 250 people arose from an audit of patient notes and some outpatient appointments, said surgery and critical care general manager Jane Holden.
Some people were removed from the list because they had already had their operation. There had also been some duplications.
