Gail Maney was found guilty of murder for the second time in the High Court at Auckland last night.
Looking pale and glancing nervously around the court, Maney walked quietly away with head bowed after the jury, which had been deliberating since Wednesday afternoon, gave its verdict in the retrial.
Maney, aged 33, was accused of murdering Dean Fuller-Sandys in August 1989 by inciting Stephen Stone to kill him. She was sentenced to life imprisonment in the first trial and again yesterday, and will not be eligible for parole for 10 years.
Her co-accused, Mark William Henriksen, 33, was also found guilty for the second time of being an accessory to the murder. The Crown said he helped to dispose of Mr Fuller-Sandys' body. He will be sentenced at the end of the month.
Mr Fuller-Sandys' sister, Leonie, said the family were relieved at the verdict.
"We feel justice has been done. It proves she was guilty from day one."
