The driver, who declined to be named, said she was driving her mother's car and had no idea it was on fire until Mr Quartermaine arrived.
The fire disrupted the flow of traffic leaving the city after Saturday night's big Eagles concert, as the motorway was closed for a short time while firefighters extinguished the blaze, police said.
A line of vehicles was waiting to exit the city, but the fire was out and the motorway reopened by 11am, when a tow truck removed the charred remains of the vehicle.
