Rescuers are preparing to winch a man to safety after he broke his ankle while canyoning at Raglan.
The 25-year-old was part of a canyoning tour with Raglan Rock checking out glow worms in the area.
Raglan fire chief Kevin Holmes said thejumped about 1m into a 2m deep pool and landed in the wrong place. The Westpac Waikato Rescue Helicopter has just arrived at the scene to try and winch and airlift the man from the stream.
Holmes said a specialist Hamilton line rescue team was also with the man, at Raglan Rock on Benseman Rd, in case the air lift was unsuccessful.
The rescue is ongoing.
