Two people have been arrested after fleeing police in South Auckland early this morning.

Just before 3am police signalled for a car to stop in Favona due to the "manner of driving".

The driver failed to stop, and was followed by police.

The Eagle helicopter was also used to track the alleged fleeing driver.

"The driver dropped off two passengers, who ran away, before continuing and crashing the car," a police spokesperson said.

"The driver and a remaining passenger were then arrested by police.

"That passenger received a minor injury from the crash."
