A home invasion and indecent assault in Palmerston North will air on Police Ten 7 tonight after a seven-week search for the offender.
Detective Brad Hall said the woman was in the garden of her Church St home when a man brandishing a knife forced her inside, then demanded her bank card and pin number on October 14.
"If this wasn't traumatising enough, the offender has then tied up the victim in her bedroom and indecently assaulted her before demanding her car keys."
The offender drove off in the woman's red Toyota Corolla, registration EWG803, which was found abandoned near Victoria Esplanade the following morning.
The woman was very shaken but unhurt.
Money was taken from her account through an ATM on the Saturday morning.
The man was described as wearing a black hooded jacket, shiny black pants and black dress shoes.
He was a "young looking" well-spoken man, with a dark complexion, large build, and was about 178cm tall.
"We're sure Palmerston North residents find this sort of offending just as reprehensible as we do and will be motivated to help identify the person responsible," Hall said.
The case will feature on Police Ten 7 at 8.40pm on TVNZ 2 tonight.
